We now carry Argillite and Pipestone carvings.  Currently we only carry one artist Donavon Gates. Argillite is a rare shale like rock that is found on the Queen Charlotte islands, off the north west coast of British Columbia. Though very soft, argillite is difficult to carve and special permission is require to carve it. Pipestone is a red version of argillite and is very rarely quarried out of 3 locations on the prairies of north America. Pipestone got its name from the plains Indians of Minnesota, who used it to carve traditional ceremonial peace pipes and small trinkets.
