Perry LaFortune was born in January of 1962 in Duncan, British Columbia. Perry is an accomplished Contemporary Coast Salish artist who has been carving since 1976. Similar to his bother Doug LaFortune, Perry is a former apprentice of the late Master Carver, Simon Charlie. Sending pieces to the United States, England, mainland Europe and even as far away as Asia, Perry and his work have traveled far and wide. Always up for a challenge Perry enjoys carving a wide medium of piece including figures, panels, masks and bowls. Perry even make his own carving knives. He currently lives on the Tsawout Indian reserve with his family.
